Hey y'all! My name is Sam, I'm the owner of Rock City Canine. I am a Michigan native, and born dog obsessed. I'm the gal at the parties you'll find hanging out with the dogs: a beer in one hand and treats in the other, teaching them whatever new tricks I can come up with. I am never more fulfilled than when working with a dog and their owner to enrich their lives together. My dogs have given me the most pain, pleasure and purpose in my life. I've owned both pure breds and rescues, but the best dog I've ever had is a well trained dog. We have been able to travel the country together, from the French Quarter to the tops of mountains, from the Everglades to my grandma's house, all because of training. I think that everyone,
dog and human, deserves to live life together based in mutual trust, free of fear of harm, escape, aggression, disobedience, etc. Our lives are better when we get to share them with our dogs.

Whether you realize it or not, every moment that you interact with your dog, you are actively training it, and dogs are master people trainers. My job is not just to train your dog. My job is to train you, to give you the tools, knowledge, and understanding of how to set/reset expectations and effectively communicate with your

dog long term. With that in mind, you don't know what you don't know. I was once a green dog owner myself and made an exorbitant amount of mistakes, so I will never judge you for your dog or your dog's behaviors. You're here on my site to make a change and that is the toughest hurdle and the best place start. If you're willing to put in the work and be accountable to your dog and yourself, you will be successful and I will be here to help every step of the way.

A little more about me, I graduated from SVSU with a BBA in International Business and have spent over a decade in sales and portfolio management where I mostly train people. People training and dog training
have been my life's passions and I am blessed to be able to marry the two things I love so much.
​
In my off time, I train in mid-Michigan with police, tracking, and detection dogs and volunteer training at animal shelters. I'm always trying to level up, learn more, and hone new skills. In my remaining free time, you guessed it, I'm hanging out with my dog and my husband, probably in a kayak, at a brewery, or with friends and family...and yeah, the dogs are there, too.
